February 3, 2004: Oracle 10g released

The new Oracle database, version 10g (10.1.0.2), is finally available for download at OTN. Initial releas has been for Sun Solaris and HP-UX. The Linux version appeared only a few days later; I am happy now. For many others the waiting for the Windows version has been started. I can remember that for 9i the delay was more than a month.
On OracleWorld they promised that de db would be only 1 CD. They seem to have managed that with some trickery, moving additional (but, more or less, required) features to additional CD's. The total download will be more than 1.2 GB.
This morning (feb9, 2004) I started the first download, but at noon it seems that half of the world started downloading 10g, because the download page became suddenly unaccessible.
